Community Health Needs Assessment Survey

The Northeast Tri County Health District (NETCHD) is beginning its Community Health Needs Assessment and is asking for your help to identify key health needs and concerns facing people within Ferry, Pend Oreille, and Stevens Counties.

The assessment process begins with a brief, multiple-choice, and anonymous survey available to any resident of Ferry, Pend Oreille, or Stevens County. Information collected through the survey will help guide subsequent conversations with community groups and key stakeholders. Together, data collected from this survey as well as further conversations with community members and organizations will help prioritize local public health efforts and goals over the next three years.

Community Health Needs Assessments use direct community input to help allocate resources. In 2019, for example, Pend Oreille County resident survey responses and other local data analysis indicated a gap in health equity specifically related to youth mental health. The data from that 2019 assessment initiated the Youth Mental Health Equity Project in Pend Oreille County. Encompassed within the project are strategies designed to address the gap in mental health equity. Strategies include integrating youth perspective, increasing community connectivity and mentorship opportunities, reducing stigma associated with mental health issues, creating a self-care wellness program, and increasing referral capacity and resources using peer networks.

In Pend Oreille County, the health equity gap was clearly identified within the Community Health Needs Assessment and as a result, local partners with the Pend Oreille Health Coalition are responding via the Youth Mental Health Equity Project. NETCHD recognizes the value of community input and wants to hear from as many people as possible in order to similarly address the community-identified needs in Ferry, Pend Oreille, and Stevens Counties.

Please take 10-15 minutes to fill out the survey and share it with others who live in the community (family, friends, neighbors, etc.). The survey is available online at netchd.org or available in paper form at the NETCHD Republic, Newport, and Colville offices.
