Holiday Season and Vaccine Boosters

On Friday, November 19, booster doses for the COVID-19 vaccine were approved for all adults 18 years of age and older, regardless of occupation. This open eligibility comes just in time for the holiday season.  As you begin your holiday season with decorating, shopping, and planning your gatherings, it is strongly recommended that you receive your COVID-19 booster vaccine, too. By receiving your booster vaccine, especially if you can get it two weeks before any holiday festivities, you will give the gift of disease prevention to yourself, your loved ones, and your medical providers.

If you completed your Pfizer or Moderna vaccine two dose series, you can get your booster now if:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You received your second dose at least 6 months ago

If you received J&J (Janssen) vaccine, you can get your booster now if:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You received your vaccine at least 2 months ago

When scheduling and receiving your booster vaccine, you can mix and match COVID-19 vaccines. This means you can receive any of the three vaccines as a booster, regardless of which vaccine type you received initially. Booster vaccines are available throughout the tri county area from a variety of providers and can be administered with the flu shot.
