Guidance On Cancelling Events or Activities:

Decisions regarding cancelling organized events or activities needs to be based on the Washington Air Quality Advisory (WAQA) index. The WAQA uses the same color-coded categories as the EPA's Air Quality Index (AQI), but the WAQA fine particulate matter (PM2.5) categories are set at lower levels of air pollution to be more protective of health.

Schools, athletic organizations, recreation programs or other similar groups need to convert AQI values shown on the Washington Smoke Blog map into WAQA values to make the best informed decisions based on air quality monitors closest to them.
